Is it spring yet?

Life has been pretty ho-hum. There are things I like about the winter; mostly no hay fever, no mosquitoes, no bees (actually, wasps--honey bees are good so they can pollinate my fruit trees & berries). Despite that, I must admit I'm anxious for spring to come. Our snow is trying so hard to melt totally away. It will be nice to have it gone. We've been fortunate to have temps in the 50s, and rain instead of snow.

Our family is anxiously awaiting Maisey's grooming appointment for next week. She's very shaggy and smelly. We've even had her jump in the shower with Jord to get the stink somewhat sprayed off. I'll definitely post a before and after picture when she gets groomed.
I've got other things I need to get done around here, everything from spring cleaning to painting. And I'm supposed to fit that in with my PSE?! The boys have taken notice that I rarely watch TV anymore. Who needs cable when you've got Photoshop? Yes, I know, I'm addicted. It's better than being addicted to Dr. Phil or American Idol, right?

I have managed to learn how to make my own paper. I'm still in the trial and error phase. I also made a "card" for the Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet. (Mark is the committee chairman.) So here's my latest works of art, so to speak.

Lazy Day

Sunday is my lazy day. I really look forward to being able to work on my scrapping. Cohen and Maisey are always great subjects. They are extremely entertaining. Every time Maisey went outside she came back into the house as a snowball from the torso on down (see picture). As she waddled to the door, someone would have to sweep her up in a towel, take her to the bathtub, and get the snowballs melted off with warm water. She's no dummy--she hasn't fought us one bit when we do this.

Today I made the BEST brownies. Cream cheese brownies--mmmmmmmm! I'll regret eating them but oh, the instant pleasure!

Mid-Winter Blahs

It's the time of year when I get tired of the cold weather, snow, winter clothes, etc. Most of our snow had melted by last weekend only to be replaced with 6 - 7" new snow--heavy, wet snow, no less. And a couple more storms are predicted for the next week or so. Oh well. I felt much better this week so I accomplished some tasks around the house. Still managed to work up some pages. I really wish I would've gotten into Photoshop sooner. It's a great outlet for my creative juices.

Something I've really gotten into the last 6 to 9 months is always having a book to read. I guess I find it relaxing, especially at night. Even Mark has caught the reading bug. He's been reading the Bourne series. Apparently there's hardly any similarity to the movies. You know you're getting old when you sit around home on a Friday night reading or working on the computer. Tsk. Tsk.

Hoop Ball

Had to post this page I worked up. I've been anxious to do a page of Jordan playing basketball because he's been playing lots of games. Sometimes he has played 3 games a week. The kid loves basketball.

Root of the Problem, Part 3

Sorry to be so negative here. I'm venting my frustration on this post, hence the picture of the angry puppy. On Wednesday morning I contacted the endodontist. His secretary told me he'd call me right when he got in. After making 2 more calls, he finally contacted me around 4 pm. Grrrrrrr. I explained how I had to take 1 Loratab + 2 advil to get some relief from the pain but it wasn't taking care of it very well. At that he said, "Well, you've probably got some infection at the bottom of the root." (duh!) Then he proceeded to tell me my options, which included him doing more work on me and making more money for himself. The final option was to take antibiotics and hope that it would take care of the infection. Of course, I chose the antibiotics. In the 36 hours that I've been taking it, my pain has gone down to where I take pain meds every 4 - 6 hours instead of every 3 hours. At least now I feel like doing more than just sitting around, massaging my jaw.
P.S. Gotta say, I love the picture of this puppy. It reminds me SO much of Maisey when she was a pup. And she has the attitude to go along with it!

Root of the Problem, Part 2

Call the whaaaamulance because I'm going to whine. Things have gone from bad to worse in regards to my root canal. First, I had to go back Friday to have the filling part ground down a tiny bit because my bite was uneven. Then, as the weekend progressed, it began to hurt more and more. On Sunday, regular pain meds weren't helping. Fortunately, I live less than a block from my regular dentist so I contacted him. He gave me a few pain pills to get me by until I could reach my endodontist. I was given a prescrip for 2 days worth of pain pills and told to basically deal with it unless my jaw begins to swell. Needless to say, I have not been a happy bunny.
Let this be a lesson to all you youngsters out there--take good care of your teeth or else you'll wind up like this when you're my age. This is NOT a pleasant experience. I'm trying to decide which hurts more, labor or root canal pain. Hmmmm, I've not made my conclusion yet.

Draper Temple

Most of our family went to the Draper, Utah, temple open house last night. I would've posted a picture or two but they did not allow inside photography. Also, since we went in the evening, the pictures would not have been very good. But click on the link to see it. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=460&sid=5322959&pid=0 What an absolutely beautiful building. I especially love the wall murals. I'm sure glad we took the opportunity to go.

About Me

I'm a mom to 4 handsome sons and 1 beautiful daughter. I'm married to one of the most patient men on the planet and love him for it. My dog thinks she is the princess of the palace. Oh, and I have 1 grandpuppy.
