Roar!

OK, so if March came in like a lion, isn't it supposed to go out like a lamb? Apparently, that's not the case today. We have snow....again. We got 4" Sunday, 2 Monday morn., and it's snowing again, with more expected tomorrow, plus Friday. What happened to our lovely spring?? If it's going to be crummy out, might just as well do something constructive inside like...you guessed it, PHOTOSHOP!

Student Council has been good for Jordan. He likes the associations with the teachers and other students. It has helped him be diligent in his studies. He isn't quite as shy as he used to be.
Boy scout camps rule, both for the boys and mom. It's a great way for a boy to get out and learn to "rough it" with his other friends and his dad. Rarely does mom complain when he comes home from scout camp filthy dirty. That lets her know the scout had a fantastic time. Also, he gets to learn important skills like building a bonfire out of sagebrush, eating tons of candy and snacks all night, playing pranks on buddies, etc. Mom likes camp for she has a night to herself and can do whatever she wants and has a little peace and quiet around the house. Ahhh.

Love Knows No Bounds

Last night Mark & I attended a wedding that clealy lives up to my title. Steven (from USA) & Ismenia (from Brasil) met on-line, conversed using their computer translators, and fell in love. He travelled to Brasil to meet her face-to-face a few months ago. Almost instantly they knew they were meant for each other. It was so sweet to witness this couple exchange their vows; he in English, she in Portuguese, by an Hispanic officiator who could speak both languages. Love was written on their faces by the way they looked at each other and the words they expressed. Their reception also showed the blending of cultures with both American and Brasilian food. We got to drink Guadana (soda from Brasil) and taste some of the best Brasilian homemade "truffles". The peanut ones were WONDERFUL! And we got to learn a couple of Portuguese words: beso (kiss) and saude (cheers!). Thanks, Steven & Ismenia, for inviting us to your wedding!

Celebrate

It's been a busy week celebrating 3 birthdays this week. We've been out to dinner to TGIFridays, done lots of shopping and eaten some pretty darn good birthday cake. Jordan (with Mark) went on a campout with the 12 year-old scouts. Now THEY know how to make a fun camp. Those pictures will come later.

Maisey is feeling better. She continues to be on her anti-inflammatory meds and we've bannished her from going up and down the stairs for awhile until her back heals. I'm so glad she has a good vet.

So Sad

This picture looks like Cohen feeling sad about Maisey.
Maisey is not feeling well. She started acting strange about 10 days ago. She'd periodically shake, acting like she was cold. We assumed she was cold from getting groomed. Everyday she seemed to do this. We also began noticing she would act like she was scared. By Friday she acted like she was in pain, gingerly going up the stairs at times. After taking her to the vet on Sat. he believes she has a ruptured disk in her back. He told me if it wasn't better by mid-week, to come in again so they can x-ray her. I've done lots of searching on the web and if she has IVDD, which is very possible, then it doesn't look pretty. I don't want to go into all the worst-case scenarios. I'm just hoping we can put her on steroids and rest for a month for her to heal. I guess I'll find out when I go to the vet.

Love these mountains

This is a view near Jason & Tammy's house. Isn't it gorgeous? Picture postcard perfect. Thanks to Becki for this photos. We drove down and spent part of the day with Tammy, Grafton and Katana. Besides having a nice visit, we lunched at Paradise Cafe. That has become one of my favorite restaurants. Their cheesecake brownies are unbelievable! MMMMMMM!

The past week or so I painted my bathroom; ragged 3 walls and solid on 1 wall. I was able to get some of the trim and doors painted but I'm not done yet. Hopefully, this week. However, now that our snow is melted and it's starting to act like spring, I need to get some outside work done. We're celebrating 3 birthdays this week--Jordan's and Adam & Aaron's. Guess I'll be busy.

I mentioned in my earlier blog how I've been learning how to create my own paper on Photoshop. Here's one I made from the pictures above. Pretty cool, huh?

The princess of the palace

It's not hard to figure out who the princess around here happens to be. No, it is not me. It's Maisey. She demands a back rub every morning after breakfast, gives you the "look" until you give in to her desires, (potty, treats, etc.), and thinks she can sleep at the foot of my bed.

Differences

I'm really amused by the differences in men and women. Women LOVE to mull over things. I noticed this when buying Mark's Valentine card. I stood there with 2 other women for over 15 minutes, making sure to get just the right card. Along comes a man with a generic bouquet of roses in his hand; walks over to the Valentine cards, stands there for, at the most, 1 minute. He grabs one, then is off to the checkout counter. All I could do was chuckle to myself.

Yesterday, I spent--no lie--2 hours online viewing pictures of vanity lights to put in our bathroom. I finally found 2 different styles I liked that I'd have to order online. I decided to make a quick trip to Lowe's, just to check out what they had. I was there 10 minutes and saw some that could work for me. My thought was, I'll bring Mark with me again to see what he thinks. As I told Becki this, she said, "Why didn't you buy them?" I explained my reason why, to which she answered, "You know Dad isn't going to care which ones you get. Just as long as you like them!" She was SO correct on that one. So, I went back to Lowe's and purchased the lights. Sure enough, when Mark saw the lights, his only comment was, "Oh, I see you bought lights. " "Do you like them?" "As long as I don't have to pick them out and you like them."

A House of Learning

This is what it looks like at our house quite often. Dan, Becki & Adam study their college math together at the table. And sometimes I'm helping Jordan is with his math as well. Thus, the title.
Jordan made 5 baskets at his basketball game. Their team scored 22 so he made almost 50% of the points. He deserves a high five for that one.

This is something I threw together because I had to get these pictures out for a school project of Jordan's. Oh but I can't believe he's going to be 12.

About Me

I'm a mom to 4 handsome sons and 1 beautiful daughter. I'm married to one of the most patient men on the planet and love him for it. My dog thinks she is the princess of the palace. Oh, and I have 1 grandpuppy.
